FLOWERS TO WARM UP  THE COOLER MONTHS !

CAMELLIA 'WITH LOVE'

This wonderful Camellia sasanqua from Paradise Plants is early flowering and will flower all autumn long with delicate, soft-pink double flowers & a hint of perfume. Plant habit is elegant, slender & upright. Will thrive in full sun or part shade. Perfect in pots, excellent for hedging and ideal as a standalone 'feature' plant. Camellia plants grow best in well drained soils (for clay soils, mix organic material with the clay soil to improve drainage). After planting, mulch well & water regularly until established. Once established, Camellia plants are surprisingly drought hardy. Feed with Azalea & Camellia fertiliser in spring & summer. Lightly prune in early spring for shape, if required.

Protect from snails and slugs with an application of Multiguard pallets in spring and autumn. It will also benefit from an annual feed in Spring with organic fertiliser to keep it looking lush.

Philodendron ‘White Wizard’ in White Tor Pot

White Wizard is a stunning new cultivar with new leaves producing random patterns of white splashes. They are well suited for indoors as they grow well in low light and are great for pots and larger planters. When small they make amazing plants in terrariums and with a heavy cutting back they can be kept small and compact for years. To keep a plant compact it must be allowed to grow to a reasonable size and the central growth must be removed; this will force the plant to cluster with much smaller plantlets. This can be done every year or two.

Water well if kept in pots but sparingly in terrariums; potting mix must be allowed to almost dry between waterings. Keep in some direct sunlight or provide artificial light. Avoid heaters and draughty positions. Fertiliser should be only used if you would like the plant to grow. Lack of fertiliser will keep plants shorter and more compact. Temperatures above 20 deg C will speed up growth, between 10 and 20 deg C growth will be extremely slow and plants can be pruned to keep compact. Dead leaves can be removed for cosmetic reasons. Keep on the dry side in winter.

We have paired the White Wizard with the White Tor Pot as the simple white colour matches, and amplifies the variegation on the leaves.
