 FROST & DELIGHT
There has been some very cold mornings this week but this combo offers elegance in the garden filled with winter delights!
CAMELLIA 'TRANSTASMAN'

Camellia Transtasman shines with its small glossy leaves and features masses of single white flowers blooming from a delightful pink bud.  Fertilise in spring and summer with a specific Camellia fertiliser. Prune after flowering to maintain a compact shape.Suitable for growing in containers in small courtyard or entertaining areas. Plant with other traditional favourites like and Helleborus and Lamium. MORNING SUN - PART SHADE- protected from hot afternoon sun and strong wind. MAX HEIGHT 2m x 1.5
HELLEBORUS 'SOPHIE'S DELIGHT'
For lovers of the beautiful winter-flowering Helleborus, 'Sophie’s Delight' cannot fail to impress. Proudly held well above its handsome foliage, predominantly white blooms are deliciously edged and backed with deep mulberry - a colour combination that is both simple and elegant. 'Sophie’s Delight' is quite happy indoors for up to three weeks, after which it will be a valuable evergreen addition to a semi-shaded garden border or container.
FULL- PART SHADE 50cm x 50cm

LAMIUM 'CANDY FROST'
This cool ground cover adds brightness to low light areas and softens edging for shady paths. Sweet pale pink flowers appear spring through to autumn. Grows well in most soils that are moist but well draining. Do not allow to dry out over extended periods of heat. No pruning required although a light trim can be given during early spring to shape. An addition of a slow release fertiliser in spring is recommended.
PART SHADE 10cm X 50cm

GIFTS TO GO!
HELLEBORE 'ICE ‘N’ ROSES WHITE’

Ice 'n' Roses White is a compact, medium sized plant with masses of flowers in late winter and early spring. It grows to 50cm wide and 40cm tall. The flowers occur in a central bunch, are outward facing and are a crisp clear white. Helleborus Ice 'n' Roses Rose' requires little effort to keep it performing and growing well. Remove the spent flowers prior to seed set and trim off any ratty leaves. It is not necessary but will give you a better floral display if most of the leaves are trimmed back during late autumn.

Ice 'n' Roses is part of a collection of named Helleborus varieties bred for very high quality in appearance and performance. Only about 1 in 100,000 seedlings meet the high standards necessary for possible inclusion in the "Helleborus Gold Collection'. The Helleborus in the 'Helleborus Gold Collection' are propagated by micropropagation and not by seed. This is the only method of producing plants of the highest possible quality which are consistently true to form.

Silverbeet - Fordhook

Traditional and reliable with delicious large deep-green leaves and white stems, ‘Fordhook Giant’ is a gardener’s favourite, producing stems up to 60cm tall. If supply outstrips demand, share the outside leaves with any neighbourhood chickens, or sauté, freeze and use as spinach.
Silverbeet is the easiest vegetable to grow and can be harvested for up to 18 months. Related to beetroot, silverbeet prefers a fertile soil, in sun or part shade. Harvest leaf by leaf, as needed, always leaving at least half a dozen leaves to allow the plants to keep on growing. Older plants are more tolerant of over harvesting as they can draw on their swollen roots for nourishment, but it's always best to leave more to keep the plant productive.

BUSINESS AS USUAL - ONE MORE WEEK OF RENO BEFORE WE ARE BACK IN!
The restumping is complete and the flooring is down. Sanding and polishing next week and looking forward to it looking gorgeous at the end.

If you didnt read last week - It has been 8 year since we moved BOTANICAL CREATIONS into what was once my home. It is still a joy to arrive everyday, even though it is very fresh in the morning and we have been restumping.  This weekend we will have access to the hall and two back rooms. On monday everything will have to be move outdoors in preparation for restumping. So indoor plants will be limited next week.
It is still the best time to grab a bargain!

Get On Top of Those Weeds!
With our range of weed killing sprays and concentrates no weeds will stand a chance! Weed kill comes in both regular and a fast acting spray, or in a concentrate bottle for more vast applications. Weed Kill can be applied directly onto the weed's leaves and added as often as needed until they are under control.
For an organic alternative try Slasher which can be applied in the same way and also comes in a spray or concentrate bottle.

EXPERT TIP- for hideous weeds like oxalis, a week after spraying, cover with 3 layers of newspaper and a thick layer of BARK MULCH to prevent them reemerging in spring.
