HAPPY HIBISCUS 'BALI SUNSET'

'Bali Sunset' is a beautiful Hibiscus with large, fiery orange and gold blooms during spring, summer and autumn. They are a colourful addition to warm climate gardens, suitable as screening, hedges or standalone plants. Does well in sunny locations and likes a moist, well draining soil. Height: 2m Conditions: full sun

LOVELY LIME & LAVENDER OF ANOTHER KIND!
HYDRANGEA 'SUNDAE FRAISE'
Sundae Fraise Hydrangea is a delightful shrub which flowers throughout summer and autumn. Juvenile flowers are lime green and mature to white and then to a variety of pink hues, ranging from soft pink to vibrant hot pink. Tolerating a huge range in growing positions, it can be planted full sun or shade. Sundae Fraise grows 1m in a pot or up to 2m in good soil.

IMPATIENS 'DOUBLE LAVENDER'

With impressive strong upright growth, and an abundance of full double lavender flowers for an extended period, this one is a true standout.
Masses of rose shaped double flowers are produced continuously in the warmer months.
Best in a shady, frost free position, protected from direct sun in the summer. Ideal for a border to 50cm tall or smaller in pots and planters on patios and BBQ areas. Stunning in hanging baskets in shade houses or under verandahs, to brighten shady parts of the garden with the protection of other plants.

LYSIMACHIA NUMMULARIA 'GOLDILOCKS'
Add a splash of zing to your flower beds or hanging baskets! Goldiclocks is an easy, fast-growing ground cover that looks great in containers as well. The foliage is yellow-green and slightly rounded with an abundance of bright yellow, cup-shaped flowers appearing in the early summer. The color will be brighter yellow with more sun, and more lime-green in shadier sites. Excellent ground cover in wet areas, as it will root at the nodes where it touches the ground. Tolerates light foot traffic.

Alocasia Green Velvet in Vera Black Pot

This Alocasia variety has dark green arrow shaped foliage with white veins. Grows best in friable, moist, well drained soil in warm, humid environments. Position in a bright room away from direct sunlight. Soil can be kept moist but not wet in the warmer months but allow soil to dry out more between watering in the cooler months.  Trim back untidy foliage and fertilise in spring and summer.

MITO MARCH
As part of Garden Releaf 2023, we're raising vital funds for Mito!

Garden Centres of Australia is fundraising to help the Mito Foundation create a brighter future for Australians impacted by mitochondrial disease (mito).

Mito is terminal; there are no cures and few effective treatments. All donations will help cultivate the budding researchers that will make the medical advancements needed to literally change lives.
Gardens and colour are proven to be beneficial for positive mental health and wellbeing. This year’s message is Colour for Health.

During March, we are encouraging a gold coin donation for gift wrapping to go toward this important cause.

Basil Mint

A hardy perennial that is the Basil you have when you don’t have any Basil.

Growing Tips

Mints require open soil with summer moisture. Given these conditions they can run away so should be planted where this is desired or in large pots. Will grow in low light positions.

Use

Add late in the cooking as the mint aroma fades quickly. Finely chop leaves and use them in salad dressings, marinades and sauces. Add to salads and vegetables for an exotic flavour. Tastes a lot like Sweet Basil so partners well with similar strong flavoured herbs. It is not as aromatic but will give cooked food the classic citrus and spice flavour with a hit of mint. Use with fish, vegetables, soup and salads.

Sweet Pea Seeds are NOW IN
The traditional day to plant sweet peas is on St. Patrick's Day, but don't worry, you can plant them any time during autumn.
Get in early and get your sweet pea seeds and seedlings growing for a spectacular display of fragrant colourful flowers all through spring and summer
