Australian native plants are renowned for their hardiness, once established, and can provide a brilliant display whist many exotic plants are out of season. Attracting colourful seed and nectar-loving birds, various insects to assist in pollination and perhaps even a lizard or skink searching for a sheltered resting place, these plants are a welcome asset to any garden.

ADENANTHOS SERICEUS 'SILVER SENSATION'

A medium-sized shrub or small tree with spreading branches. The soft, narrow, grey-green leaves give a silvery effect and narrow, tubular orange-red flowers appear over a long period

The highly decorative foliage makes this an ideal addition to gardens, windbreaks and coastal gardens. Can be hedged. Flowers attract nectar feeding birds.

Grow in a sunny to partly shaded position in well drained soil. Tolerant of lime. Avoid boggy, poorly drained soils. Prune after flowering to maintain compact

Bred by the team at Kings Park and Botanic Garden in Western Australia, Bush Gems Celebrations are a colour breakthrough with unique flower colours never before seen in Kangaroo Paw. Well suited to tub and pot displays, these are the perfect gift idea.

Fireworks features compact blue foliage with electric pink and blue flowers.

Prolific flowering all year round. Position: Protected, bright and sunny position.
Remove old flower stems and leaves as close to base as possible. Water only when the top of the potting mix has dried out. Watering requirements will increase when plants are in full flower. Can be brought indoors to a bright position as a decorative piece for 1-2 weeks, before being returned to its outdoor position.

ALYOGYNE 'AUSSIE PURPLE'

Alyogynes are fast growing native shrubs closely related to Hibiscus. They occur naturally only in Australia. Aussie Purple™ produces a brilliant display of bright purple flowers in spring to summer, making it a colourful addition to native or cottage style gardens. The attractive foliage of this plant is a feature throughout the year.

Medium size shrub to about 1.5 to 2.0m high and 1.5 to 2.0m wide.

Anigozanthos 'Bush Pearl' in Native Animal Pot

Bush Pearl is one of Australia's favourite kangaroo paws as it features masses of distinctive, bright pink flowers on a naturally compact and bushy plant. A relatively tough kangaroo paw that is suitable as a feature plant in a container or planted en masse to great effect in a sunny, well drained garden position.
Prolific flowering all year round when positioned in a well drained, sunny location.
Remove old flower stems and leaves as close as possible to their base. Sprinkle a small handful of a good quality slow release general purpose fertiliser around the base of the plant in autumn and spring. Water only when the top of the potting mix has dried out.

Betel Pepper

This attractive climbing herb has pretty green leaves that form part of a Betel Quid (chewing block) consisting of the Aerca palm seed and a mix of spices and sugars. It is a mild stimulant and can be addictive and is popular in Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. 

The Betel loves a warm and moist environment. Prefers rich open soils in a warm position with filtered light and a pole or trellis to climb on.
