FLOWERING PLUM
PRUNUS CERASIFERA 'OAKVILLE CRIMSON SPIRE'
This exciting form of Prunus cerasifera has a columnar shape, richly coloured foliage and attractive spring blossom. An excellent urban tree, its hardy and adaptable nature makes it an ideal garden specimen, screening especially where space is restricted. Flowers emerge before foliage in early to mid spring. White flowers fade to a very light pink with pinkish-red stamens orne in dense clusters of 3 to 5 blooms.
Ornamental fruits to 25mm may be produced under excellent conditions.
Oakville Crimson Spire tolerates hot sites and can perform well in a variety of site conditions once established, but prefers moist, well-drained fertile soils and a position receiving full sun. 6 x 2 metres.
SALVIA 'WENDY'S WISH'
'Wendy's Wish' flowers for a lengthy season (warmer months) displaying large, vibrant magenta flowers which are tubular and capped by a colourful border. Mid green foliage is dense with a lush appearance, with complimentary dark maroon stems. Wendys Wish grows well in full sun, well draining soils and tolerates the hot dry weather well. Trim off around one third of overall size in early spring to maintain shape and encourage a dense, bushy shape.80cmx 80cm
DIANTHUS 'SUGAR PLUM RASPBERRY'
With a heavenly clove scent and bold deep purple flower buds, Dianthus 'Sugar Plum Raspberry' creates a bold carpet of flowers. The dark crimson coloured buds make an outstanding feature which complements the blue-grey foliage. Perfect as a garden border to 40cm.
As an added bonus it can be used as a cut-flower, bringing inside room-filling fragrance.
HELICHRYSUM 'RED JEWEL'
A compact and eye catching strawflower with ruby red buds which open to starry white straw like flowers held above lovely silver foliage. Foliage is attractive all year with maximum growth 40x 40cm.
Plant in full sun in well drained soils. Responds to regular watering but will not tolerate wet feet or constantly wet foliage. A light prune after flowering will keep it tight and silver.
