 SWEET AS!
CAMELLIA 'SWEET JANE'
Camellia 'Sweet Jane' is by far the longest flowering pink Camellia. This unique Victorian bred hybrid can flower for 5 – 6 months of the year. Rose pink buds open to masses of white/blush pink blooms edged soft pink to pink. New growth in Autumn and Spring has a beautiful coppery deep red hue over its bushy upright foliage. It grows 2-3m and can be planted in sun or shade. Planted as a hedge or specimen Sweet Jane will delight you with flowers Autumn and Winter. Fabulous at the front door in a pot.

AZALEA INDICA ‘ALINE’

Azaleas are shade loving upright shrubs that offer a vibrant floral display in the cooler months can seem dull. Aline has beautiful large clear white flowers that appear in late Autumn through to Spring. These lush green shrubs can grow 1m x 1m and are an excellent mid level planting under trees and taller shrubs. Great in large tubs on a shady patio they can offer a long lasting floral display at the door or outdoor table

BACOPA 'PINK'
Bacopa has pretty soft pink rounded flowers that bloom for many months, beginning in spring, and are very tolerant of a hot, sunny position though can also grow in part-shade. They are excellent plants for creating a soft and flowery effect, especially for cascading over walls pots and baskets. This free flowering  ground cover forms a mat upto a 1.5min diameter and 5cm tall at maturity. One of my all time favouite ground covers because of the length of flowering and variety of colours.

EXPERT TIP Autumn is the most efficient time to plant out the garden as the soil is still warm and regular rain helps with the settling in process offering you the ideal time to get plants established before the next hot spell in summer.  Prepare the soil for Azaleas and Camellias in our area is important with sandy soils and subsurface clay. We love using Pure Magic Compost when planting to improve soil quality and waterholding capacity and drainage. Autumn and Spring are great times to fertilise with Azalea and Camellia Fertiliser to stimulate flower production.

Calathea 'Rosy' in Vintage Blue & White pot

One of the most stunning indoor plants, Calathea 'Rosy' will do well in indoor gardens and terrariums. 'Rosy' is slow growing and does not require much maintenance so it can be kept small and compact for long periods; it will also do well in pots in most places indoors but requires heating in colder months.

Water well if kept in pots but sparingly in terrariums, potting mix must be allowed to almost dry between watering. Keep in some direct sunlight or provide artificial light. Avoid heaters and drafty positions.
This Calathea is moderately hardy but will not survive in cold climates without heating. Keep on the dryer side in winter.

Pair with a Vintage Blue & White pot to emphasise Rosy's stunning foliage!

Daphne 'Spring Pink'
Flushes of the sweetly fragrant pink flowers on the deep green foliage appear in late winter/early spring each year, then repeating again in early summer and again in autumn with darker pink buds fading to lighter pink tones.

Frost hardy and dry tolerant, ideal for a stunning low perfumed hedge or border in small gardens, patios and courtyards.
Well-drained soil is critical to ensure roots remain healthy. Do not allow root systems to sit in waterlogged or excess moisture environments, either in containers or, in the garden.
For optimum results, lightly trim and feed with a slow fertiliser in early summer to maintain shape and vigour.

Lemon Balm - Melissa officinalis
A semi herbaceous perennial that dies off in a cold winter with attractive white summer flowers and pungent lemon scented foliage. Lemon balm like many herbs is both good for cooking and for health. The leaves can be added to salads and make marinades and sauces for eggs, pork and fish. It is an antibacterial and is said to relieve insect stings and bites.
A strong cup of lemon balm tea with a few leaves of stevia and some fresh peppermint makes a refreshing and calming afternoon tea. Serve chilled for a nice summer drink. Finely chop leaves and mix with chopped fresh sage and melted butter then use as a toss for freshly made pasta.
Plant in almost any spot in the garden and does well in poor dry soils. It spreads by rhizomes so it may run awayin good conditions. Cut back hard in autumn to keep in check.

Height 40cm x Width 40cm

Autumn is the perfect time to re-seed areas of the lawn that have become sparse over summer.

Turbo Patch Repair Seed is a great value hardy blend of grass species that will do well all year round in the sun in Melbourne and includes a lawn starter feed.
If you have a shadier area that only gets morning sun or is under a large tree, try the Shade Lawn Seed.
For high traffic areas or harsher full sun positions, the Tough/Strong & Hardy Seed Mix will give fantastic results.
