HIBISCUS IS THE FLOWER THAT
SHOUTS 'TROPICAL OASIS'.
Liven up a sunny part of the garden with Hibiscus in a huge range of colours.
My pick this week is HIBISCUS 'D.J. O'BRIEN'
with a profusion of medium, semi double blooms of dark apricot each with a rich carmine pink centre. A dense upright evergreen shrub to 2m, it can be used as a stunning feature, planted in groups or used as an informal border for a great tropical vibe.
You can’t beat Nandina as the ultimate low maintenance filler. Bushy foliage in shades of crimson, orange, light green, purple and scarlet, with small fairly insignificant flowers making it a fabulous contrast to the bold Hibiscus flowers. Its foliage grows to 75cm and color intensifies during Winter or when grown in nutrient depleted soils.
Scaevola are a wonderful ground cover with abundance of purple flowers all year round.
Unlike other Scaevola forms, the Purple Fusion grows much flatter and is more drought tolerant, making it a great choice to keep out weeds in the hot summer sun
It does not mound, so there is less cutting back required. Trim back once a year in late winter to maximise flowering

A compact growing annual with attractive light green leaves and cold tolerance.
Wasabi leaves have a strong mustard flavour very similiar to traditional Japanese Wasabi that are best eaten when young. Pick leaves and add to any salad or use as a base under a range of seafood and vegetable dishes. All parts of the plant are edible and the more it is picked the more it will produce. Remove flower stems to increase harvest time.
Prefers moist but well drained soil in a part to full sun position.
