Citrus fortunella 'Calamondin Variegated' 165 mm
Calamondins are a cross between Kumquats and Mandarins. They have loose bright orange skins and can be made into a delicious marmalade. candied or used in liqueurs. Trees are both ornamental and perfumed. blossoming in spring. This variegated form has lovely cream/green foliage. Young fruit is pale green with dark stripes.
Calamondins can be recognized as different from round kumquats by their flowering time. kumquats flower in early summer
FEATURES: Caring for your tree: Avoid damaging the roots and lower trunk to prevent disease entry. Water well during dry periods. Mulch the area, to keep roots cool, and suppress weeds, leaving a 25mm gap around the trunk Fertilise using a citrus fertiliser as directed.
PLANTING: Cultivate soil to depth of container and at least three times the diameter. In poorly drained soils, cultivate a large area shallowly, and create a raised moaund of freely draining soil. Remove the plant from its pot, and plant into a hole in the soil or the mound, to the same depth as the pot soil. Backfill the hole and gently firm down the soil. Water thoroughly.
