Burpless acid-free are bred to have lower levels of cucurbitacin, a compound that can cause bitterness and gas. These cucumbers are known for their mild, sweet flavor, thin skin, and delicate flesh, and some are virtually seedless. They are typically best eaten fresh in salads but can also be pickled when picked at a smaller size. 

Cucumbers require a consistently moist and rich soil in an open sunny spot. Use plenty of compost before planting your cucumbers. They are a sprawling vine that may be grown up a trellis or wire frame if you wish. Compact cucumber varieties are suitable for pots. Cucumbers should be picked regularly to encourage more flowers and fruit.

They are prone to fungal diseases in humid weather. Avoid overhead watering.
