Lavenders love the summer heat, giving masses of beautifully scented flowers.

Salvia Blue

Why so many different types??

Drought tolerant and long flowering, Salvias are an excellent selection for those who adore flowers. In particular, blue flowers as I do. Salvias are related to Lavender and Rosemary and unlike many other genera, blue flowers are quite common and come in a variety of shades. A lovely bordering plant for your cottage-style garden, it will attract birds and bees into your garden. They all have a fragrant sage scented foliage.

Flower borders are all about height and scale for flower colour and foliage texture.

Salvia 'Mystic Spires Blue' is an excellent compact selection 50cm x 50cm from the highly popular Salvia 'Indigo Spires which can reach up to 1.3m. Salvia ‘Blue Sensation’ is a smaller leaf variety and more compact again, growing 10-15 cm. So each of them can take a different position in a perennial boarder. Foreground, midlevel and background.
