The Flanders poppy has long been a part of Remembrance Day and is also increasingly being used as part of Anzac Day. During the First World War, red poppies were among the first plants to spring up in the devastated battlefields of northern France and Belgium. Poppies have became a symbol of sacrifice. A vivid reminder of those lost in the tragedy of war.

 Vibrant Viola
6 Top reasons for planting Violas

1. Long flowering to brighten the garden at least until October .
2 . Tolerant flowers to cold wet weather.
3.  So easy to remove spent flowers or let them go and they can produce seed to spread throughout the garden.
4. The colour range is huge. So you can find the right colour to match your colour scheme.
5. Violas have many uses. Plant them in pots, hanging baskets and any sunny spot in the garden.
6. Edible flowers perfect for garnishing cakes, salads and cocktails.

The Tea Camellia is extensively cultivated around the world for the making of different commercial teas. They only use the top 2-3 leaves depending which tea is being made. In the home garden it is popular as a hedging and screening option. It has attractive small white-cream flowers, with at hint of yellow, appearing in autumn, winter and spring. Keep it moist through summer and it will reward you year round.
