Autumn is on its way !
The Camellias & Hydreangea paniculatas are starting to bud and the Liriope have already started their autumn blooms!

CAMELLIA SASANQUA 'ASAKURA'
Asakura is my fav Camellia of all time! It is very showy and the longest flowering Camellia, with flowering extending from autumn through to early winter. The bush is vigorous, strong, upright and sun hardy. Leaves are dark green, thick and glossy highlighting the pink buds and showy white flowers. Asakura looks great either clipped to shape or left to form a natural tear dropped shaped shrub.

NEW HYDRANGEA 'MOJITO'
Hydrangea ‘Mojito’ is a new exciting variety in our paniculata selection. It has been selected for its strong growing habit and its beautiful lime green foliage- the strongest growing paniculata variety we have seen. Mojito flowers open as a soft green, before turning creamy white with green and blush tones as they mature. The flowers are borne on strong, upright stems, making them excellent for both garden display and as cut flowers. In autumn, the leaves turn soft yellow shades, adding seasonal interest before falling in winter.

LIRIOPE MUSCARI 'PURPLE'

Liriope muscari ‘Royal Purple’ (often called lilyturf) is an excellent choice for a flower border—especially if you want something low-maintenance, evergreen, and long-lasting. Royal Purple has vivid purple flowers that sit above snappy foliage in the autumn. A bit like the flower structure of lavender, they are an ideal ground cover and border plant that are tolerant of sun and shade.  Also great for underplanting and look fantastic with other glossy leaf plants and can be divided over time to produce multiple of plants. If exposed to snail damage it may need a light trim in early spring to refresh foliage.

Tom's Indoor Combo of the Week!
A perfect way to start your rare plant collection...

Monstera 'Thai Constellation'
in Aquis Ceramic Pot

The ultimate indoor plant: Thai Constellation is highly-sought after due to its beautifully variegated leaves. They are difficult and slow to propagate so plants can fetch high prices. They make amazingly hardy indoor plants but to keep the best shape they should have some direct or artificial light.
Water well when indoors but potting mix is best allowed to almost dry between watering in colder months. Keep in some direct sunlight or provide artificial light. Avoid heaters and draughty positions. Fertiliser should be only used if you would like the plant to grow. Lack of fertiliser will keep plants shorter and more compact.

Martin's Edible Pick of the Week

Calamondin
Calamondins are a cross between Kumquats and Mandarins. They have loose bright orange skins and can be made into a delicious marmalade, candied or used in liqueurs. Trees are both ornamental and perfumed, blossoming in spring. This variegated form has lovely cream/green foliage. Young fruit is pale green with dark stripes.
Calamondins can be recognized as different from round kumquats by their flowering time, kumquats flower in early summer.
To best care for your tree, avoid damaging the roots and lower trunk to prevent disease entry. Water well during dry periods. Mulch the area, to keep roots cool, and suppress weeds, leaving a 25mm gap around the trunk. Fertilise using a citrus fertiliser as directed.
When planting, cultivate soil to depth of container and at least three times the diameter. In poorly drained soils, cultivate a large area shallowly, and create a raised mound of freely draining soil. Remove the plant from its pot, and plant into a hole in the soil or the mound, to the same depth as the pot soil. Backfill the hole and gently firm down the soil. Water thoroughly.
