PRINCESS LILIES COOL COLOURS
SALVIA 'AZURE BLUE' 140 MM

Elite Azure Blue out performed all other varieties, staying in flower throughout the warmer weather, whilst staying bushy. Best flowering is October to May, but will continue to spot flower all year. Ideal for garden borders, informal hedging and low maintenance areas of the garden where you want long term colour. Elite Azure Blue is drought tolerant, but will perform best with regular water.

CARE - Trim to shape as required to remove old blooms and freshen up the plant in the warmer weather. A harder prune can be done in early spring as Salvias come out of their winter slumber. Fertilise seasonally with organic rose fertiliser fertiliser.

ALSTROMERIA 'ELITE LAVENDER'

After trials Elite Alstroemerias have been selected for the longest flowering and most compact habit. Ensuring continuous blooms while low maintenance.

Ideal for big pots and planters, as well as garden beds and rockeries. Perfect for long-lasting cut flowers to display inside the home.

CARE: Once the flowers are spent, pluck the whole stem from the rhizome to encourage new growth. Do the same with dead or yellow leaves and Elite Dark Purple will reward you with a perfect flower display year round. Alstroemerias will always reshoot quickly from intact rhizomes so don't be scared to pluck most of the plant if needed. Fertilise seasonally with organic rose fertiliser.

CINERARIA 'SILVER DUST'
Silver Dust (Cineraria maritima) has a finely cut, silvery white, velvety foliage and offers fabulous contrast and texture to garden beds and borders against any flower colour. It does off small yellow flowers but is more renowned for its foliage.
Silver dust is perfect for container plantings as a foliage filler. Trim in spring and autumn to maintain bushy foliage.

Martin's Edible Pick of the Week
Sweet Basil

The most common type of basil grown in the home patch is sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum).

Basil doesn’t really like the cold, which is good news for people in warm and temperate areas, but can lead to a bit of strife in colder regions. Sweet basil is what we learned horticulturists refer to as a “summer growing annual” meaning that, in theory, basil will die back once the cold hits every year.

So, where to position your basil plant?  Hot tip would be somewhere… well… hot! Basil loves full sun, but in really warm areas, they don’t mind part shade. In the cooler climates, ensure your basil has at least four hours of sun each day.

Sweet Basil loves rich soil, full of organic matter like Pure Magic Compost. The more fertile your soil is, the better flavour and performance your basil will have.

Sweet basil is what we call a gross feeder  and will eat anything it is given. Liquid seaweed, worm wee or liquid manure is the best, and this should be applied fairly frequently through the growing season, for fragrant, healthy, tasty basil. And remember, the more you pick, the more you need to feed!

Basil likes to be fairly damp, but make sure you don't overwater. Here's a good tip. Your pointer finger is the greatest soil moisture sensor in the world… and most of us have two of those. Stick your chosen finger in the soil, and remove. Is it damp, and is there dirt stuck to your finger? If yes, it doesn’t need a water. If no, read on! Water in the morning, to avoid water on the foliage as the temperature cools down. Never ever ever water your basil with greywater!

?Protect & Feed Your Citrus?
We use and recommend:
Insectraps & Fruit & Citrus Food

Natural control for Citrus Gall Wasp & Fruit Fly

Insectrap protects fruit and trees from damage caused by the Citrus Gall Wasp, Fruit Fly (including the Mediteranian Fruit Fly) and other insect pests. It attracts these pests to its glue field and permanently traps them, interrupting their life cycle and reducing their population.
How to use:

Remove Insectrap from its package.
Gently push the enclosure upwards then hold the bottom of the stick with one hand. With the other hand twist the top end to expose the holes.
Hang it on the outer limbs of the branch by its hook.
Discard when outer surface is full of insects and replace with a new one.
Effective for 3 to 4 months from date of use or until full of insects

Make sure to feed your citrus for Spring as well with organic Fruit & Citrus Food
