"Old Man's Whiskers" or "Spanish Moss"

This amazing plant is a wonder of nature; in habitat it appears to live only on air. Tillandsia usneoides is a member of the Airplant family. A single clump consists of hundreds if not thousands of individual plants, growing in long strings, with new plants forming at the tip. Spanish Moss does not produce roots and can be tied or draped on objects.

Spanish moss grows well in shade outdoors or in good light indoors. Avoid hot or dry environments and full sunlight. Spanish moss will tolerate full sun in humid climates; in arid climates it must be sheltered.

Watering is essential for good growth, a soaking every day or two in summer and fortnightly in winter will keep the plant at peak condition. Occasional fertilizer in the water will speed up growth. Spanish moss does not suffer from diseases or pests.

Soft Pink Perfection
When designing a flower garden, it’s always the aim to have flowers all year round.

Camellia 'Sweet Jane' is by far the longest flowering pink Camellia. Sweet Jane is a Victorian bred hybrid variety that can flower for 5 – 6 months of the year. Rose pink buds open to masses of white/blush pink blooms edged soft pink to pink. New growth in Autumn and Spring has a beautiful coppery deep red hue over its bushy upright foliage. It grows 2-3m and can be planted in sun or shade. Prepare the soil with pure magic compost when planting, and ensure regular watering through summer. It’s a great time to fertilise with Azalea and Camellia fertiliser to stimulate flower production. Planted as a hedge or specimen, Sweet Jane will delight you with flowers Autumn and Winter.

Gaura ‘Rosy Jane’ flowers in abundance in spring, summer and autumn, completely covering the bush and dance in any wind that blows. A truly delightful effect like lots of butterflies adrift on the breeze is achieved.
Gaura are deservedly popular perennials grown world wide because they are so easy to grow. ‘Rosy Jane’ grows well in sunny gardens as a mid level planting as it grows to a compact 30cm.
Flowers of ‘Rosy Jane’ last well in floral arrangements.

Hebe ‘Pretty n Pink’ features stunning deep burgundy foliage for year round colour. Pretty n Pink is a very hardy evergreen spreading shrub, growing 30cm in height & approximately 90cm wide. Plant in full sun to achieve a neat, compact growth.

Bacopa Pink
Bacopa has rounded flowers and comes in various colours. They bloom for many months, beginning in spring, and are very tolerant of a hot, sunny position, though can also grow in part-shade. They are excellent plants for creating a soft and flowery effect, especially as a colourful ground cover boarder.

Broccoletti vs Broccoli

What's in a name? It's best to think of Broccoletti as a member of the "Sprouting Broccoli" family.

The entire vegetable (leaves, young stems, unopened flower shoots, and flowers) is consumable. Its flavor is sweet, with notes of both broccoli and asparagus although it is not closely related to the latter.

Broccoletti takes approximately 10-12 weeks to grow after being transplanted.  It’s time to plant now. It is harvested when the heads are fully developed but are not flowering. By cutting off the head, the harvest time is extended by four weeks as new shoots of smaller heads will grow. Multiple picks extends production time.

Common cooking methods include sautéing, steaming, boiling, and stir frying. Still don’t think you can get the kids to eat it?? Add a bit of Teriyaki Sauce
