Alstromeria 'Elite Pink'

Elite Alstroemerias have been selected for the longest flowering and most compact habit. Ensuring continuous blooms while low maintenance, Elite Alstroemerias come in a wide range of colours to choose from.

Full sun to part shade in well drained soil.

Ideal for big pots and planters, as well as garden beds and rockeries. Perfect for long-lasting cut flowers to display inside the home. Give adequate water until established, then Elite Pink can withstand short dry periods, but performs best with regular watering.

Once the flowers are spent, pluck the whole stem from the rhizome to encourage new growth. Do the same with dead or yellow leaves and Elite Pink will reward you with a perfect flower display year round. Tom's Indoor Pick of the Week!
Calathea crocata in Tall Lavender Pot
Calatheas are stunning indoor plants that are generally very hardy and do well in low light making them very well suited for indoor use in pots or terrariums. They are very slow growing and will not require much maintenance. They can grow 30 to 40cm tall and provide stunning orange flower bracts for most of the growing season.
Water well if kept in pots but sparingly in terrariums; potting mix must be allowed to almost dry between waterings. Keep on the drier side in winter. Avoid heaters and draughty positions. Keep in some direct sunlight or provide artificial light.
Fertiliser should be only used if you would like the plant to grow. Lack of fertiliser will keep plants shorter and more compact.
This Calathea is hardy but will not survive outdoors in cold climates.

Martin's Edible Pick of the Week
Rhubarb - featuring Mavis the Hen

A large attractive plant with deep green leaves and red stems that are excellent for desserts.

An easy to grow clumping shrub will grow in most parts of the garden. It prefers rich soil and regular moisture. Do not let it dry out during summer. Make sure to grab some tomato vegie dust to stop those pesky caterpillars eating the leaves.

Harvest as needed and give regular applications of Maxicrop seaweed fertiliser to keep the plant healthy.

The stems of the rhubarb should be used as the leaves are toxic if eaten. Chop the stems and place in a pot with a centimetre of water. Bring to the boil, then simmer, stirring constantly until the stems lose their shape and become a soft mash. Sugar, stevia or honey, maple syrup can be added as needed. The stewed rhubarb can be eaten hot or cold with ice cream or mixed into a tart, pie or crumble.

Rory's Hardware Pick of the Week
? Protect Citrus from Gall Wasp! ?
We use and recommend: Insectrap
Natural control for Citrus Gall Wasp & Fruit Fly

Insectrap protects fruit and trees from damage caused by the Citrus Gall Wasp, Fruit Fly (including the Mediteranian Fruit Fly) and other insect pests. It attracts these pests to its glue field and permanently traps them, interrupting their life cycle and reducing their population.
How to use:

Remove Insectrap from its package.
Gently push the enclosure upwards then hold the bottom of the stick with one hand. With the other hand twist the top end to expose the holes.
Hang it on the outer limbs of the branch by its hook.
Discard when outer surface is full of insects and replace with a new one.
Effective for 3 to 4 months from date of use or until full of insects

Make sure to feed your citrus for Spring as well with organic Fruit & Citrus Food
