Cherry Blossom & Butterfly Drift!
Unique spring blossom and hardy perennials this week!

PRUNUS 'UKON' JAPANESE CHERRY BLOSSOM
WOW! I haven't seen this one before. Prunus 'Ukon' is a unique variety of flowering cherry with green young flowers that age to pink then open fully to semi double white.  Young foliage emerges brownish-bronze and contrasts well with the unusual flowers. It is an attractive spreading shaped tree with gorgeous autumn colour foliage of rich orange, yellow, and bronzy-red. Plant in well composted soil in full sun. Water well particularly over hot summers.

NEW GAURA 'BABY BUTTERFLIES ROSE'
Gaura 'Baby Butterflies Rose' has a compact growing habit while retaining normal size flowers. Baby Butterflies Rose features an abundance of rosy pink flowers that are borne from pink flower buds. It will flower from spring through to late autumn and the butterflies will love it!  Prune to approximately 15cm in early spring before the main flush of flower. If desired, prune again in late summer before the autumn flush of flowers.

SCAEVOLA 'WHITE DRIFT'
We are a huge ‘fans’ of Scaevola! These gorgeous little evergreen plants are easy care and seem to flower forever, well at least from spring to autumn. Scaevola are native to Australia’s east coast and thrive in a variety of conditions. They are a great choice if you are looking to encourage birds and beneficial insects to your garden. They are dry tolerant once established and require a well drained soil. The plants are super low maintenance and simply dead heading to encourage more flowering.

Jacqui's Indoor Pick of the Week!
Begonia Rex in Fleur Pink Pot

Begonias Rex are grown for their ornamental foliage, which consists of swirls, spots and stripes in a range of metallic sheens and interesting shapes. Position near bright, indirect light.
Water when soil feels dry or plant starts to droop. Keep soil moist but not wet. Water more in warmer months, allow to dry down in winter and fertilise regularly during the growing season.

Will benefit from repotting each year. Ensure good air circulation and avoid overhead watering, as wet foliage can encourage fungal disease. Leaves may die off in winter just remove dead leaves and leave plant in a dry position.

Martin's Edible Pick of the Week
Chilli Birdseye Thai

The Bird’s Eye are generally red at maturity, but may also be yellow, purple or black. They are very popular in asian dishes, and with heat almost similar to habenero, they add quite a punch to many types of dishes, including pastas, soups, sauces, dips, and more.

Historically the hot pepper has been used as a natural remedy for arthritis, rheumatism and toothache, and they may be used as an insect repellent when mixed with water.

Perfect in your garden or a pot, this plant is happiest in a sunny to partly-shaded spot in moist, well-draining soil and protected from frost. Fruiting during summer and autumn.
