Prunus 'Ukon' is a unique variety of flowering cherry with green young flowers that age to pink then open fully to semi double white. Young foliage emerges brownish-bronze and contrasts well with the unusual flowers. It is an attractive spreading shaped tree with gorgeous autumn colour foliage of rich orange, yellow, and bronzy-red. Plant in well composted soil in full sun. Water when soil feels dry or plant starts to droop. Keep soil moist but not wet. Water more in warmer months, allow to dry down in winter and fertilise regularly during the growing season.
Will benefit from repotting each year. Ensure good air circulation and avoid overhead watering, as wet foliage can encourage fungal disease. Leaves may die off in winter just remove dead leaves and leave plant in a dry position.
