Bracteantha Elite Amber proved in trials to be one of the most compact varieties and covered itself with profuse flushes of papery deep orange blooms. The flowers lasted for months, with best flowering from September to May, but Elite Amber will flower continuously if trimmed after a flush is completed. Ideal for garden borders, pots and mixed planters or mixed with other colours in the Elite range in your garden beds. Flowers can be cut and dried for small posies. An easy to grow clumping shrub will grow in most parts of the garden. It prefers rich soil and regular moisture. Do not let it dry out during summer. Make sure to grab some Tomato Veggie Dust to stop those pesky caterpillars eating the leaves.
The stems of the rhubarb should be used as the leaves are toxic if eaten. Chop the stems and place in a pot with a centimetre of water. Bring to the boil, then simmer, stirring constantly until the stems lose their shape and become a soft mash. Sugar, stevia or honey, maple syrup can be added as needed. The stewed rhubarb can be eaten hot or cold with ice cream or mixed into a tart, pie or crumble.
