It proved to be a very hardy low growing summer perennial ideal for hot spots in the garden and low water use areas. Position in full sun to part shade. Ideal for garden borders, informal hedging and low maintenance areas of the garden where you want long term colour. Adequate water until established, then Elite Cherry Red can tolerate dry periods, but will perform best with regular drip irrigation. Chain of Hearts in Akua Grass Planter One of the hardiest of all basket succulents, Chain of Hearts can be grown almost anywhere indoors or out, sunny or dark. Long tendrils can grow a metre or more in a season and fill a pot very fast. Heart shaped leaves appear along the entire length and cute 3cm vase shaped flowers can appear in summer from every leaf. Large number of potatoes form inside the pot to store food and water so plants can live for many months without water, water well and allow to dry between watering, in winter keep dry. Feed during warmer months to encourage growth. To thicken growth cut back or twirl the vines back into the pot. Avoid breaking up old plants, potatoes will often die if damaged, best to cut back growth and replant into a larger pot making new plants from cuttings.
