A Warm Winter

CAMELLIA 'EXOTIC JEWEL'
Perfect in pots, excellent for hedging and ideal as a standalone or 'feature' plant.
Camellia Exotic Jewel has double flowers which open deep glowing-pink in colour, ageing to crimson red. Flowering mid-season (from May). Lots of flowers, often in small clusters. Delicate perfume. Plant habit is elegant, slightly arching & upright with deep green foliage.
Camellias grow best in well drained soils. After planting, mulch well & water regularly until established. Once established, Camellia plants are surprisingly drought hardy.

PIERIS RYUKUENSIS 'TEMPLE BELLS'
Also known as Lily of the Valley Plant, this small evergreen shrub has a showy display of large, creamy white, bell-shaped flowers in late spring. New foliage is light green, becoming reddish bronze and maturing to a deep emerald green. Ideal as a specimen plant or planted en-masse in beds and borders. Also makes an attractive container plant. Prefers a partly shaded position in moist, well drained soil.  Prune for shape after flowering. Likes a slightly acidic soil so feed with Azalea & Camellia Fertiliser. Mini Cyclamen in Blue and White Pot

Cyclamen are one of the longest flowering plants through autumn, winter and early spring. Pair this vibrant coloured miniature cyclamen with an assorted blue and white pot for a gorgeous gift.

Camellia Sinensis - Tea camellia

Produces a rich display of dense foliage and small, single, white to cream flowers with yellow centres. Its it hardy, long living, spreading shrub that likes acidic soil. It looks great in a feature pot and also make a wonderful hedge or espalier.

In the home garden, enthusiasts can grow their own tea plant. They require the same conditions as other species, a deep humus rich soil, moist and a reasonably cool climate. It is the small new leaves that are picked to dry and make tea.

The leaves need to be picked when young to produce the highest quality tea.

Tea plants are best grown in a frost free position so that the new, delicate young leaves are not damaged by frosts.

In most home gardens the best position is in dappled shade, this provides some protection from frosts as well as protection from the hot sun, which can burn the new leaves.

Height to 4m if not hedged or pruned. Best kept at 1m for harvesting.
