WINTER WONDERS

It's an awesome time to plant for those of us who are time poor with winter and spring rains to establish plants with little tending from you! Plant some low maintenance varieties to make the garden pop!

CREPE MYRTLE - LAGERSTROEMIA 'ZUNI'
The Lagerstroemia 'Zuni' (Crepe Myrtle) is a compact, multi-stemmed deciduous tree or large shrub celebrated for its long flowering dark violet-to-magenta summer blooms and brilliant autumn foliage. In winter the bark becomes its feature. The outer bark naturally peels away to reveal a smooth, mottled under-bark that provides sculptural, year-round interest. We highly recommend Crepe Myrtles and this is the most compact for small gardens or even manageable even in a large pot. Keep an eye out for the four planted.

CORDYLINE 'ELECTRIC PINK'
If your outdoor space is crying out for a high-impact injection of colour,  ‘Electric Pink’ bursts from the ground in a fountain of multiple, lushly foliaged stems, offering a dramatic explosion of texture right from the base. Creating an architectural sphere, it is as tough as it is stylish. This sun-loving icon handles scorching 40°C heat and winter frosts with effortless grace, requiring minimal water once established.

HELLEBORE 'ICE N ROSES PICOTEE'

The Winter Rose - Ice 'n' Roses is part of a collection of named Helleborus varieties bred for very high quality appearance and performance. The flowers occur in a central bunch, are outward facing and are a white with a ruby tinge. Helleborus are perfect for underplanting deciduous trees as they require little effort to keep it performing and growing well.
Expert Tip - Remove the spent flowers prior to seed set and trim off any ratty leaves. It is not necessary but will give you a better floral display if most of the leaves are trimmed back during late autumn.

DICHONDRA 'SILVER FALLS'
Silver Falls is the common name for Dichondra argentea, a low ground cover to 10cm. The name Silver Falls comes from the unique colouring of the leaves, a silvery pale green. It is a wonderful contrasting groundcover plus It is especially popular in hanging baskets because of its trailing foliage and perfect for trailing over the edge of pots. It is fabulous the way it spreads and covers an area vigorously and quickly as well as for its low-maintenance nature.
