Native Blossom Garden!
HAKEA LAURINA PINCUSHION TREE Pin Cushion Hakea has show stopping flowers autumn to winter and is an all time favorite flowering native. Perfect for dry sunny spots. Grow as a hedge or a specimen tree 3-4m high by 2m across. Honey eaters and bees love the flowers. We love them as a cut flower to bring indoors.
CORREA 'DUSKY BELLS' An old favourite dense mounding shrub with profuse flowering from autumn through winter and on to spring. Great shrubbery plant that is a great small bird attractor. Prune straight after flowering to encourage new and more dense growth, and feed with a good native fertiliser in spring. The leaves have a pleasing citrus smell when crushed. At its best in moist but well drained soil, tolerates medium frost levels and dry spells, sun to half shade. 1m H x 1m W
PYCNOSORUS 'BILLY BUTTONS' This Australian native tufted perennial produces attractive foliage year round and flowers in spring. Their silver-grey foliage presents a lovely backdrop to the bright yellow, globular flower heads in late spring and summer. Grows in most soil types providing surface drainage is good. Prefers full sun and is both drought and light frost tolerant. Water well during the hot, dry months. Remove spent flowers to encourage further flushes. Makes an excellent dried or cut flower. 1m H x 1m W
MYOPORUM 'BROAD WHITE' This Australian Native ground cover family is so hardy. With masses of pretty, white, star-shaped flowers throughout Spring and Summer this low-growing plant with broad, green form is dense and vigorous. It quickly forms into a thick, carpet-like mat to keep the weeds out. Prefers a well-drained soil in full sun. Will tolerate poor dry soils, light shade, and dry conditions once established. 10cm H x 1m W
A vigorous, mat-forming, perennial ground cover with soft, woolly, silver-grey leaves and spikes of purple flowers in early summer. Ideal for sunny borders, rockeries and low maintenance gardens. Grow in a sunny position in moist, well drained soil. Apply a complete fertiliser in spring.
The 'Chinese Money Plant' or Pilea peperomioides is a remarkable indoor plant that produces beautiful round peltate leaves. The dark green almost coin-like leaves can grow up to 10cm in diameter. The plant itself can grow to 30 cm in height.
Place in a bright position indoors away from direct sunlight. Rotating the plant occasionally can help ensure the stem grows straight.
Water when the soil feels dry or the plant starts to droop.
Little Finger is a baby gourmet mini-carrot carrot. Sweet in flavour, crisp texture and tender core.
As carrots are a root vegetable, it’s going to be necessary to get your hands dirty. Rocks, stones and really heavy soil will slow down growth and deform your carrots. Manually pick through your bed before planting, remove obstacles. Carrots need at least 6 hours of sunshine a day, so choose a sunny position with well-drained soil.
Carrots taste best when they are grown really quickly and good soil preparation is paramount here. Plenty of compost added to the garden bed will aid in strong growth. Also feeding with a liquid fertiliser will benefit the carrots
Carrots can be picked at any stage, but it's best to wait until the top of the root has just emerged out of the soil. It's a good idea to pick one Carrot first to see whether the crop is ready.
